NEW osTicket 1.18.4, upgraded from 1.18.2, bringing the current feature set and security fixes.

NEW Containerized application: osTicket and MariaDB now run as Docker containers. Application updates can be delivered without replacing the AMI, and the database is not reachable from the internet.

NEW Alma Linux 10: the host operating system moves from AlmaLinux 9 to AlmaLinux 10, with all critical patches applied.

NEW Use your own domain name with a free SSL certificate: run one command, sudo /usr/local/bin/egl-setup-domain.sh.x, and enter your domain. A free Let’s Encrypt certificate is requested automatically and renews itself from then on. No email address is required and no configuration files need editing.

NEW Automatic HTTP to HTTPS redirect once a domain is associated, so visitors reach the secure address whichever they type.

NEW Reverse proxy included: HTTPS is handled by a Caddy proxy in front of osTicket, so certificates survive application updates and container restarts instead of needing to be reinstalled.

IMPROVED Correct visitor IP addresses. Staff login records and ticket IP history now show the real address of the person, rather than the address of the proxy in front of the application.

IMPROVED The setup directory is removed for you. After you complete the setup wizard it is deleted automatically and the configuration file permissions are tightened, so the security step osTicket recommends is already done. There is nothing to delete yourself.

IMPROVED MariaDB 11.4, the long term support series, replacing 11.5 which was a short term release. Pinned to a tested version so every new installation gets the same database.

IMPROVED PHP 8.2 with hardened settings, and directory listing disabled.

IMPROVED Installation no longer depends on a single image source. If one source is unavailable the installer falls back to others automatically, so a new instance can still be built.

IMPROVED Security Patch Updates: addressed the latest CVE reported risks to enhance security and mitigate potential vulnerabilities.

IMPROVED Package Updates: all packages have been updated to the most recent stable versions, ensuring improved compatibility and reliability.

IMPROVED phpMyAdmin is no longer installed. It was reachable at /phpMyAdmin on earlier builds and was never part of the documented product. An unadvertised database console on a public address is a risk rather than a feature, and the database is now on an isolated internal network.

IMPROVED Cockpit is no longer installed. The host administration console on port 9090 has been dropped, along with firewalld, memcached, redis and Node.js, none of which osTicket uses. The instance is protected by its AWS security group.
