NEW Containerized build on AlmaLinux 10, replacing AlmaLinux 9. UVdesk and its database run as containers, so an application update no longer means replacing the instance, and your ticket attachments are kept in storage that an update does not touch.

NEW Your helpdesk is installed and ready when the instance finishes starting. There is no browser setup wizard to walk through. The database, the schema, the support roles and your administrator account are created for you, using the application’s own supported console commands.

NEW The exact UVdesk version is fixed in the image and verified by checksum at build time. Previously each instance downloaded whatever the current-stable link pointed at on the day it was launched, so no two were guaranteed alike.

NEW Free SSL and your own domain in one command. Run egl-setup-domain.sh.x and a Let’s Encrypt certificate is obtained and renewed automatically. The tool also writes the address UVdesk records for itself, which is the address used in the emails your helpdesk sends.

NEW Automatic HTTP to HTTPS redirect once a domain is associated, and a Caddy reverse proxy in front of the application, so certificates survive application updates and restarts.

NEW Incoming support mail is collected every five minutes once you have added a mailbox, so email turns into tickets without anything further to schedule.

FIXED The application now runs in production mode. The distributed application runs Symfony in development mode, which returns full stack traces and exposes the developer profiler to anyone who triggers an error. The previous build shipped in that state.

FIXED Every instance now has its own application secret. The distribution ships a literal placeholder in its place, and neither the setup wizard nor the previous installer ever replaced it. That value signs session cookies and CSRF tokens.

FIXED The site address the helpdesk records for itself is now written during installation and when you associate a domain. The application ships with a placeholder that installation does not fix.

FIXED The installation summary now gives both addresses. UVdesk serves a public support centre at the plain address and signs agents in at a separate, language-prefixed address, so the obvious guess returns a not-found page. The previous summary named only one.

FIXED Installation can no longer report success after a failure. The previous installer checked for a file that ships inside the download itself, so a completely failed install still printed the success summary.

IMPROVED The version is recorded correctly. This release is UVdesk Community 1.1.8. Earlier builds recorded it as 1.18, which is the same release with the dots lost.

IMPROVED MariaDB 11.4, replacing the distribution’s MariaDB 10.5, and PHP 8.2 with the mailparse extension UVdesk needs for email ticketing.

IMPROVED The database is no longer reachable from the internet. It runs on a private network inside the instance, and the recommended inbound ports are now only 22, 80 and 443. Port 3306 no longer needs to be open and must not be.

IMPROVED Built without the redis PHP extension. The UVdesk project documents that this extension breaks its own installer, and the previous build had it installed and running.

IMPROVED Installation no longer depends on a single download source. If one is unavailable the installer falls back to others automatically.

IMPROVED Clearer installation messages, including a check that your domain points at the instance before a certificate is requested.

IMPROVED AlmaLinux 10 with current patches, replacing AlmaLinux 9.

REMOVED phpMyAdmin is no longer included. The database is no longer reachable from outside the instance, and a database administration console published on the public internet is the most direct route into every ticket and customer record the helpdesk holds.

REMOVED The DNS server and the second cache service that earlier builds installed are gone. Neither was used by the helpdesk.

REMOVED Firewalld is no longer listed. The AlmaLinux cloud image these builds were made from removes it, so it was not present to configure, and in the container model there is no exposed port for it to protect.
