Bagisto 2.x

One-Click Installation

Bagisto Initialization:

Overview:

This guide will walk you through initializing Bagisto on your AWS instance in just one click. The setup process is streamlined using our custom script, designed for ease of use and efficiency. Before starting the script, ensure the minimum requirement is met.

Pro Tip: We recommend associating an AWS Elastic IP with your instance before running the setup. This prevents your IP address from changing when the instance is stopped and restarted.

Step 1: Access Your AWS Instance

1. Launch Your AWS EC2 Instance:

  • Choose your desired AWS EC2 instance type. (Recommended: t3a.small / t3.small)
  • Open ports 22, 80 and 443 in the security group.
  • Once the instance is running, connect to it via SSH.

2. Connect to the Instance:

  • Open your terminal (Mac/Linux) or use an SSH client (e.g., PuTTY for Windows).
  • Run the following SSH command:
ssh ec2-user@<your-aws-public-ip>

3. Run the Initialization Script:

  • To initiate the installation, run the following command:
/usr/local/bin/egl_init.sh.x
  • Note: This script automates the entire installation process. While it runs, ensure your terminal remains active, and do not close the session. It typically takes two to four minutes: the application is downloaded, then Bagisto creates its database, its base catalogue data and your administrator account before the storefront is served. The script generates new credentials for this instance.

Step 2: Instance Set Up and Installation

1. Completion Confirmation:

  • Once the installation is finished, you will see a summary on the screen with your storefront address, your admin panel address and your administrator sign-in.
  • Write down the password AND the admin panel address. Both are generated for this instance and are not stored anywhere you can read them back.

Your Bagisto store is installed and ready to use.

Your storefront: http://<your-public-ip>/
Your admin panel: http://<your-public-ip>/admin_<generated>

++++++++++++ Administrator sign-in +++++++++++++++++
Email: <generated for your instance>
Password: <generated for your instance>

2. Your admin panel address is unique to this instance

Please note: the usual /admin will not work, and that is deliberate. Bagisto’s default admin path is /admin, which is the first address every automated login attempt tries. This build gives each instance its own path instead. Use the address exactly as the summary prints it. If you lose it, it is recorded as APP_ADMIN_URL in your store’s configuration file on the instance.

  • Your shoppers go to http://<your-public-ip>/
  • You go to the admin address from the summary

3. Sign In:

  • Open your admin panel address and enter the email and password shown in the summary.
  • You will arrive at the dashboard, with Catalog, Sales, Customers, Marketing, CMS and Configure reachable from the left.

4. Change the administrator email address

Do this before you go any further. The address the installer generates cannot receive mail. It is on a reserved domain, so if you lose the password there is no way to reset it. Open your account settings, set your own email address, and save.

Before you take your first order

  • Outgoing mail. Open Configure, then Email, and set your SMTP provider. This image does not include a mail server, so no order confirmation, shipment notice or password reset is delivered until you do.
  • Payment methods. Under Configure, then Sales, then Payment Methods. Bagisto ships with cash on delivery, bank transfer and money transfer enabled, and card gateways available to configure.
  • Shipping methods and tax rates are in the same Configure area. A store with no shipping method cannot complete a checkout.
  • Your store details, currency, weight unit and time zone are under Configure, then General. The time zone is set to UTC so that timestamps match the instance clock.

Step 3: Add Your Own Domain and SSL

  • Your store is served over plain HTTP until you associate a domain. To use your own domain name with a free SSL certificate, run:
sudo /usr/local/bin/egl-setup-domain.sh.x
  • Full instructions are in Associating Your Domain.
  • Do this before you start taking orders. Shoppers will not enter card details on a site that is not served over HTTPS.

Important Notes:

  • Mail Sending Blockage:
AWS may have email-sending restrictions in place by default. Before using the instance for email sending, submit a request to AWS to lift the restriction on outbound email traffic.
  • The database is not reachable from the internet.
MariaDB runs on a private network inside the instance with no published port. Port 3306 does not need to be open and must not be opened.
  • No sample products.
This is a clean Bagisto, so there is nothing to delete before you list real stock.
  • Do not run the installer a second time.
Each run generates new database passwords, while an existing database keeps the ones it was created with. If you think something went wrong, email [email protected] rather than running it again.
